Accessibility

What works with a keyboard and a screen reader, what doesn't yet, and where to tell us when something is in your way.

The pages

Every page outside the builder is plain text: this one, About, Privacy, Terms, and every shared plan. Headings are headings, links are links, every control works from the keyboard, and the menu marks the page you are on. We build them to WCAG 2.2 AA. Anything short of that is a bug, and we want to hear about it.

The builder

The builder draws your building on a canvas. A canvas is a picture, and a screen reader can't read it. The controls around it are ordinary buttons and inputs that work from the keyboard and announce their state. Everything the picture shows is also written down. Under Paper you get the cut list, the lumber to buy, the sheet goods, and the build order as tables. A shared plan's page has the same tables as text before the builder loads.

What doesn't work yet

Placing a window, dragging a wall, and turning the building are pointer gestures with no keyboard version yet. The plan view is the same. It's on our list.
