Terms of use

Square Plumb gives you a framing plan, a cut list, and a build order for a small structure. This page says what that is, what it isn't, and what using it means. Last updated: [date, on review].

What you get

Every number the service gives you is an estimate. The cut list, the lumber count, the fastener schedule, the build order, and the cost are framing plans and estimates. Software works them out from the few choices you made. They are only as good as those choices and the rules the software carries.

What it isn't

Square Plumb is not an engineer, an architect, a building inspector, or a code official. Nothing it produces is engineering advice, and nothing it produces says that a building meets any code. Where it cites a code table, it names the source so you can check it. A citation isn't a certificate. Soil, snow, wind, earthquakes, and local rules all vary, and the software doesn't know your site.

Permits and inspections

Where you build decides whether your building needs a permit, an engineered design, or an inspection. Finding that out and meeting it is your responsibility. During the beta, the service covers only small buildings that people don't live in. That is a limit on what the software has been tested on, not a promise that your building needs no permit.

Acceptable use

You may use the service to design and build your own structures and to produce the paperwork for them. You may not copy, extract, or resell the service, its data, or its output as a product of your own. You may not probe, overload, or interfere with the server, use someone else's account, or use the service for anything unlawful. Sharing a plan publishes it on this site, and what you share is your responsibility.

Your account and termination

You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in. You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We can change or withdraw the service, during the beta and after it, with reasonable notice where we can give it. Your plans are yours, and you can export them while your account is open.

Warranty and liability

The service is provided as is, during a beta, with no warranty that it is accurate, complete, fit for any purpose, or free of defects. As far as the law allows, Square Plumb isn't liable for any loss, damage, or injury from a structure built from its output, from reliance on any estimate it gives, or from the service being unavailable. Where the law doesn't allow a limit, the limit applies as far as the law does. [Owner: governing law and venue to be named on review.]

Changes

These terms change as the beta does. The date at the top says when. If you use the service after a change, you accept the change. For questions, write to info@squareplumb.net.
